Wednesday of the Thirty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time Revelation 15:1–4
The greatest event in the Old Testament
was the Exodus.
God rescued His people from slavery in Egypt.
Through Moses,
He led them through the sea.
Pharaoh’s army seemed powerful.
The Israelites seemed trapped.
Death seemed near.
But God acted.
He opened a way.
He saved His people.
And when Israel stood on the other side of the sea,
they sang.
They sang the Song of Moses.
It was a song of victory.
A song of freedom.
A song of thanksgiving.
Today, in the Book of Revelation,
Saint John sees another sea.
And beside this sea,
he sees those who have conquered the beast.
They have not conquered by violence.
They have not conquered by power.
They have conquered by faithfulness to the Lamb.
And they sing a new song:
the Song of the Lamb.
This means that the story of Exodus is not finished.
God still rescues His people.
God still leads them out of slavery.
God still defeats the powers that destroy life.
But now, the true Moses is Christ.
The true Passover is His Cross.
The true liberation is freedom from sin,
evil,
and death.
Those who sing the Song of the Lamb
know this.
They have passed through trial.
They have resisted the beast.
They have refused to worship false powers.
They have remained faithful to Christ.
Now they stand before God
and sing:
Great and wonderful are Your works,
Lord God almighty.
Just and true are Your ways,
O King of the nations.
This is worship.
They do not praise their own courage.
They do not praise their own victory.
They praise God.
Because salvation belongs to Him.
He alone is holy.
He alone is Lord.
He alone is King.
The world has many rulers.
Many voices asking for our loyalty.
But Revelation tells us:
only God is worthy of worship.
Only Christ the Lamb
is Lord of heaven and earth.
The first Christians believed this
while living inside the Roman Empire.
They faced pressure,
threats,
and persecution.
But they conquered the beast
by remaining faithful to Christ.
So:
What song is my life singing?
The song of fear?
The song of compromise?
The song of the world?
Or the Song of the Lamb?
God still calls His people out of slavery.
Christ still leads us through the sea.
The Lamb still teaches us how to conquer.
Let us stand with Him.
Let us worship.
Let us sing
the Song of the Lamb.
